What To Pack:

Attire

Casual attire is the order of the day.  I suggest shorts, capri pants, tee shirts, polo shirts, blouses, sun dresses, tank tops, etc.  For deck activities low heeled or flat shoes are suggested.  Bring a few swimsuits, so you’ll always have a dry one.  Ashore, you’ll need comfortable walking shoes. If you are cruising to the Caribbean, Mexico, or other warm weather destinations, you may want to bring a hat for protection from the sun.  If your cruise will take you to Alaska, Canada, New England, or Northern Europe, be sure to pack a jacket and sweaters.

For the Main Dining room, you may want to dress up a bit and bring along a light jacket or cardigan.  Most evenings Carnival has a “Cruise Casual” dress code in the Main Dining Room, but there are Cruise Elegant evenings where you will have the opportunity to showcase your more elegant attire.

  • Cruise Casual Dining: Casual dresses, skirts, or pants and blouses, summer dresses, capri pants, jeans, dress shorts (no cut-offs) – no swimwear in the Main Dining Room please.
  • Cruise Elegant Dining: Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses, jackets, sports coats, blazers, collared shirts; if you’d like to show off an evening gown or suit and tie/tuxedo, that’s a great option too!

Review your Fun Times daily for dinner attire.  The Lido buffet and Lido deck dining offerings are the most laid-back choice for evening dining.

Luggage

Carnival suggests limiting luggage to one bag per person for 3-5 day sailings and 2 bags per person for 6 days or longer.  To expedite your check-in at the port, I recommend securing your luggage tags before you leave your home if you are driving to the port or upon picking up your luggage at baggage claim when flying to your embarkation location.  Your checked luggage will be delivered to your stateroom once all luggage has been screened, loaded onto the ship, and sorted, so you will not have access to it for a while.  Each checked bag should not exceed 50 lbs and should be unlocked for security purposes.

Carry-On Bag

You must personally carry-on all travel documentation as you will need these in your possession in order to board.  Also you should pack valuables, medications, any items requiring special handling or anything you feel you may need soon after boarding in your carry-on luggage.  Isuggest you pack all prescription medication in original bottles and bring along 3 days of extra medication in the unlikely event there is an unexpected change to your itinerary.

Last Night of Cruise: Bring an overnight bag for your last night at sea.  Staff will collect your luggage the night before debarkation and you will need an overnight bag to carry your nightclothes and toiletries.

What Not to Pack

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment, Carnival prohibits certain items on board, such as weapons, candles, irons, alcohol, illegal drugs, and other dangerous goods.  Carnival conducts a security scan of all luggage and if prohibited items are found, they will be removed and disposed of and no compensation will be given.  You may review a list of prohibited items by visiting https://www.carnival.com/help/1202.

Bringing Beverages Onboard – Embarkation Day

Carnival allows each guest to bring a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less of non-alcoholic beverages (sparkling water, soda energy drinks, juice and milk) onboard on embarkation day. These beverages packaged in glass or plastic bottles are not allowed.  Bottled water can be pre-purchased prior to your cruise through the Fun Shops. Purchased water will be delivered to your stateroom on embarkation day.  Bottled water may also be purchased on board by contacting Room Service.

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board with the following exception – at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day only, guests may bring one 750 ml bottle of sealed, unopened wine or champagne, per person, in their carry-on luggage.  Outside of his exception, all liquor, beer, and other forms of alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked luggage.  If you wish to consume your carried-on wine or champagne in the Main Dining Room, specialty restaurant or a bar, a corkage fee per 750 ml bottle will be charged.
