Our goal for you is to complete or be holding a FASTPASS for the most iconic / popular attractions by lunch. However, since Disneyland is different than Walt Disney World, much of this will depend on YOUR ability to navigate the FASTPASS system using MAXPASS. It’s important to understand how FASTPASS works. Once you’ve selected a Fastpass, you’ll see a message that reads: This party can make a new FASTPASS selection at (TIME). I suggest setting an alarm on your phone so there’s never a time lapse and you’re constantly selecting new FASTPASSES. Likewise, you’ll want to set an alarm on your phone when your FASTPASS window opens so you do not miss it – there is no grace period like there is in WDW. You may hold more than one FASTPASS at a time.
Disneyland Park Arrival – Arrive about 20-30 minutes before the park opens
Once you have entered the turnstiles (or if you are already in the park because of Magic Hours), immediately open the Disneyland app and begin your FASTPASS selection. You’ll do your best to follow this plan. Official Park Opening Time-Disneyland Park Rope Drop |

Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is NOW OPEN!!
Beginning on June 24th, Disneyland will work to limit access to keep crowd levels low and make the land enjoyable for all. Their strategy to achieve this goal is through a system they will call boarding passeswhich they will use to regulate the capacity of the land. Each boarding pass will include an entry time along with a two hour grace period to use the pass once your ‘boarding time’ is called.
Guests will obtain these boarding passes through the Disneyland Appor from one of the numerous distribution points located throughout Disneyland park. The boarding pass will function as a virtual queue. Guests will be notified through the app and via electronic signs throughout both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure when their boarding group is being called. The groups will then have 2 hours to make their way into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Here are all the full details of everything you need to know regarding the Boarding Pass system at Disneyland:
- Use the Disneyland app to check the status of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The land will remain ‘open’ until it fills capacity. Once it hits capacity then the Boarding Pass system will be implemented.
- To request to be part of a boarding group, you need to be inside Disneyland Park. Once your ticket is scanned and you’re inside you can either:
- Use the Disneyland app to make the request for join a boarding group. Make sure everyone’s park tickets are linked in the app to request the same boarding group for your party.
- Obtain a boarding group with your ticket at select Disney FastPass locations such as Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones Adventure, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain or near the Matterhorn Bobsleds.
- If you’re using the Disneyland app, make sure to enable push notifications and you will be notified when it’s time to enter. For those not using the app, there will be digital signs around the park letting guests know which boarding group is able to enter.
- Once your boarding group has been called to enter, you have two hours to enter the land. Guests with boarding passes will enter the land through the Frontierland entrance.
- After you have entered the land, there is no time that you are required to exit. You may remain in Star Wars Land for as long as you would like.
